Hey do u have a
stable ip? In other words, do you have cable, dsl, or any of what
such and you have many computers and you want them to go online and have
file and printer share? I
got one word for you NETWORKING! So you would need to network your
computers togethers. I would not go in depth cause i'm just too lazy
to type out all the instructions! BUT i would give sites that has
directions! :) Do
you need more an ip for an isp for each computer? No,
you don't. So don't waste your money paying about 6 more buck for an
isp ip for each comp! So
what would i need? You
would need (2) network interface cards (nic) in the server comp. The
server computer is the computer that the cable or dsl modem is connected
to. You would also need one nic for each additional computers (these
computers are called clients). BEFORE
I GO ON YOU HAVE A CHOICE... YOU CAN GET A HUB YOUR YOUR LAN WHICH IS GOOD
BUT THERE'S SOMETHING BETTER WHICH IS A ROUTER! FOR EXAMPLE, YOU DON'T
HAVE TO DO THE COMPUTER CONFIGUATIONS THE ROUTER WOULD DO EVERYTHING FOR
YOU. SO THE ROUTER IS MUCH EASIER! IT IS NICE IF YOU GOT THE
EXTRA MONEY! I RECOMMEND THE LINKSYS ROUTERS IF YOU GET THE ROUTER! Now
you have choices! a) I
only have 2 computers and would only have 2 computers! b)
I have 2 or more computers and i want it easily to add another computer to
the network! For
"A" you don't need a hub! All you need is (2) nics in the
server comp and another nic on the client comp! You would also need a
crosscover cable! So why is this so special? Well you don't have
to waste your money buying a hub! -=) So you jus connect the 2 nic
together with the crossover cable. Again this method is only for 2
computers that's why its so special... I personally don't recommand this
choice! For
"B" the additional items you got to get is a hub and rj45
cables! You would still need (2) nics on the server comp and (1) nic
each client. The connections is also different. :( You connect the
2nic on the server comp to a regular port on the hub (NOT THE UPLINK PORT)
with a rj45 cable! Then you use another rj45 cable and connect it to
the client comp and it would connect from the hub from a regular port.
Do this for each additional client comp! Ok
for both choice you still got to do something configurations on your os!
You would do this in your network neighborhood if you using
windows! Like
i said i would not get into details of how to set up the configuations on
each machine... BUT i will give you a website! For
Furthermore Configurations Directions OK
now this is what i can help you out with... So i am assuming you have your
network going. You are now having file and printer share... you
playing games on the lan with great nice speed BUT you can't get on the net
with the clients computers! So
here the catch you got to get WinGate or Sygate ! These are programs that
would get your internet GOING! BEFORE
